After going 2-2 in the first big game of the Spring, Ankiel is looking promising. however, he will head to memphis in triple-a ball. when asked if he would move to the majors by the end of march, la russa simply said, "Ankeil needs to play."

Perhaps the most impressive stat.....in his first year as an outfielder he hit 21 home runs in only 85 games!!!!! I got to see him play here in Peoria that year. Crushed...and I mean CRUSHED two ball (just foul:() Had a cannon for an arm (held a guy at third that normally would have scored, and played OK defense. I think he'll be on our bench this time next year, as long as he stays healthy.
