according to ken rosenthal from fox sports, the cardinals could be a suitor for akinori otsuka if the rangers feel confident enough with gagne. not a bad fit for the cards after losing kinney for the season.
i wouldn't mind this at all. we'd grab a guy who had 32 saves last year and a 2.11 era. he'd give us a little more insurance in the closer role if something happens to izzy along the way. only real downside is that he's 35 - but if you can sign him on a one-year deal and move him or someone else before the trade deadline when mulder comes back, we'd be in good shape.
question is: what do we give up?
